Prayer is one of the most important ways that we engage in relationship with God.

In The Catechism in The Book of Common Prayer, we are taught that prayer is responding to God, by thought and by deeds, with or without words; it is our response to God. The best know example of prayer, the Lord’s Prayer, was given to us by Christ.

When we add someone’s name to our prayers, or to a church prayer list, we are lifting them up in intercession – we are interceding on their behalf with God for God’s ever-abundant and always present love, mercy, and grace.
